While driving south out of town John Lawyer spotted this lonely mustard yellow, 1975 GMC RV for sale. He immediately flipped a U-turn to admire its beauty. He scribbled down the phone number off the "FOR SALE" sign hanging in the window, and a few weeks later he sweet-talked his way into the driver's seat. Later that day, the maiden voyage was camping up in the Poudre river canyon outside of Fort Collins, Colorado. On his trip, he contemplated the fate of big yellow. It wasn't long after those few nights of gazing at the star filled skies huddled around a campfire that John’s decision was made. Turn big yellow into something that many people could enjoy. This is how "CORNDOGGIES" was born!
With much love from the community, we have grown our business into having two Corndoggies trucks and slinging tens of thousands of hand dipped artisan corndogs each summer throughout northern Colorado.
The OG truck we took out to Tennessee during Covid for the summer. Due to covid times being weird times, we decided to sell the OG truck and leave her in Tennessee. She now slings sandos and still lives a happy life.
Starting in 2024, we are sponsors to the cycling team, FCCT (First City Cycling Team) based out of Fort Collins. Keep an eye out for the corn dog in the pocket.
Owner, John has always been an avid cyclist and has a major wiener for the sport. When Corndoggies was first getting its footing, the cycling community was a huge support.
You’ll find Corndoggies or our other business, Lickskillet Catering > at a lot of cycling event providing food.

With John’s wife, SJ onboard, they make the dream team of certified wiener slingers. You’ll usually find one of them on the truck and if it’s your lucky day, you’ll find them both on the food truck.
While John is the brains behind the business and food, SJ brings the content creation, HR, director of operations, and creator of the 12” step wiener program to becoming a certifed wiener slinger… just to list a few duties.
John likes to do things the right way (sometimes that’s the hard way). This is why we make our own batter, our own sauces, and even our own dogs! Yes, that's right, all the dogs are uniquely ground, spiced and then piped and smoked. The only exception is with the classic and footlong dogs, which are 100% beef ordered fresh for each event, because you can't perfect perfection!
We started out making our own dogs but once we grew, the demand was too high for our own hands to handle. After some research and searching for a solution, we were connected with the worlds best sausage maker (John Hudoc) in East Troy, Wisconsin and a beautiful relationship was born. Mr. Hudoc has a USDA certified business called, Hometown Sausage Kitchen. He makes incredible sausages and smokes meats and has become a local legend. We send him our recipes and he makes our sausages in bulk.
Our attention for details even comes down to our sauces that are meticulously thought about to pair perfectly with each of our varietal sausages. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
